Where Procrastination Meets Apathy - I won't care tomorrow.
Con-Time
Alright, here's an update for ya. Week, for the most part, has been boring. Nothing big happening. Just large upgrades with our systems at work, customers having issues, the usual. Then comes Friday, and Friday was happiness. Want to hear about it? Here goes.
Friday was the day of Opus. For those who don't know (which is probably all of you), Opus is a fantasy arts and fiction convention. So, with only Drea to go up with me, we got all dressed up as Trouble and Malik and went up to Denver for the con. Guess what? I was so fun! I wish I could have been there all weekend, or at least overnight. There was all sorts of neat costumes that didn't have anything to do with a movie or tv series or had to be "period authentic." FUN!
We walked around the dealers area, which had a lot more open and fun people then most cons I'd been too. Found out about a couple of LARPs, one of which I'm going to try and join. There was multiplayer online gaming. This new game that works totally off of biofeedback. Very cool concept. A gaming room (lots of CCG people but everyone seemed to have forgotten their RPG stuff). Joy of joys.
One of the things that took most of our time was we got caught in a "Junk Pile Costume Contest." The premise is you get a team of at least three people (we met a new person, Amanda, who was very cool); there's a pile of fabric scraps, feathers, ribbon, and that sort of sewing stuff; and you get two hours to contruct as many costumes as you may want. Either one, or one for everyone in the team. Well, we made one for everyone with the theme of "Heaven, Hell, and their Summoner." So Drea was a priestess with this neat silvery fabric draped over her like a toga with a silvery/white headress with blue feathers. Then Amanda was Heaven-ish with shimmery white tunic and blue feathered wings. And me as Hell, with my already black outfit, a black like kilt to cover my tan pants, some red string for some reason, and big bat wings! The bat wings got all sorts of compliments. Heh. Well, after all was said and done we got second place. Very niff.
After all that we found they were doing a LARP at the con and stuff like that but we didn't have time, so we came home. It was fun. Now I'm trapped at work. Poopie.
